My name is Rehanna Nolte, and I graduated from MPower in 2023 as Marlene’s last CAPS student.
I first heard about MPower through a close friend, and making the switch from a mainstream public school was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The stress and pressure that came with traditional schooling were lifted off my shoulders, and I finally had the freedom to work at my own pace. This change made a significant difference in my learning experience and overall well-being.
When I first joined MPower, I was nervous, but from day one, everyone made me feel welcome. Marlene played a huge role in helping me feel heard and valued. She genuinely cares about each of her students as if they were her own children, and that level of support gave me the confidence to come out of my shell.
One of my favourite memories at MPower was when we all used Radloff Parks’ river-water, to water the trees. It was a simple activity, but it brought everyone closer together and created a sense of community. Those little moments of teamwork and connection made my time at MPower even more special.
To the students still at MPower: enjoy every second because time truly flies! Give it your all, stay present, and make the most of the friendships and experiences around you. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone—socializing and engaging with your peers will make your journey even more fulfilling.
For parents considering MPower, I highly recommend it, especially for children who struggle with the fast-paced environment of mainstream public schools. MPower offers a supportive, flexible, and enriching alternative that allows students to thrive academically and personally. It’s a place where education is not just about getting through the syllabus but about growing as an individual.
Looking back, I am so grateful for my time at MPower, and I know that the lessons I learned there will continue to guide me as I move forward in life.
